As with so many cool things for clients, we were there with the Department of Agriculture, doing research, thinking through the strategies, identifying the original twelve members who could have the honor of using the Hawaii Seal of Qual
We were there in helping them decide the standards (most were based on pre-existing export standards) and deciding how to develop standards where there were non (for dragonfruit, for instance).
We were there to recommend that DOA use the special font developed for Hawaii tourism and recognized by millions and helped negotiate with HTA for its use.
One of our earliest ag industry clients, Matsuda and Fukuyama -- whose Kahuku brand which we helped them articulate and design -- is one of the newest members of the Hawaii Seal of Quality. HDOA started with 12, now they have 42. There's a good article about the Seal in this morning's (Sunday) Honolulu Advertiser: http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/20090607/BUSINESS11/906070334/Seal+of+Quality+a+boost+for+Isle+farms
